Stripes and... err, STRIPES!

Hey lovelies!
So I'm pretty addicted to buying new nail varnishes, but I rarely use them for nail art. I usually just paint a solid colour on my nails and away I go.
Recently people have been going crazy for nail art, so I thought I'd try my hand at some stripy nails!

I really like the pastel candy striped nails I've been seeing. So I've tried to recreate them using colours and tools I have at home.

Nail Varnishes (Left to right)
- Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polish in Dragon Fruit
- Barry M Foil Effects in Silver
- Rimmel Lasting Finish in London Clouds
- Rimmel 60 Seconds in Clear

Tools (Left to right)
- Left over nail art brush (Originally from an Ebay nail art set)
- Cheep nail file
- Cuticle stick

I didn't really know what I was doing exactly, I was just whinging it!
But I did practice my stripes before I went to paint them on my nails. I went a bit crazy..

But here's a step by step of what I did!

1. File nails to desired shape
2. Paint on a clear base coat
3. Apply 1/2 coats of chosen colour (Wait to dry)
4. Paint on the white stripes (Wait to dry)
5. Apply 1/2 clear top coats

Super simple right!
Here's my finished nails!

I chose to go horizontally on my ring finger, just for something a bit different.
They're not perfect! But I think they look super cute and lovely! I think I'll have to practice a lot more to get them how I want them, but not bad for my first try, eh?

Do you use a specific tutorial for your nail art? I'd love to see!
